mOST COMMON types of hair loss

fEMALE Pattern Alopecia & mALE PATTERN aLOPECIA

This type of hair loss is hereditary hair loss and is called Androgenetic Alopecia. It is the most common type of hair loss.  This is caused by genetics from either side of the family & can be in combination with hormone levels & aging.

tELOGEN eFFLUVIUM (TE) & Diffused alopecia

This type of hair loss is a decrease in hair density all over the scalp.  There are several things that can disrupt the hair cycle & can contribute to this type of hair loss. 

-  Finding the trigger is key.

  They are different for everyone.

-  Pregnancy / Hormone shift     -  Stress

-  Diet Changes                       -  Surgery

-  Medications                        -  Nutrition Deficiencies

Alopecia areata 

This type of hair loss is described as a sudden hair loss that starts with one or more circular bald patches that may overlap.

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system attacks hair follicles, and may be brought on by severe stress. This can progress to alopecia areata totalis and alopecia areata universalis.

Traction Alopecia

This type of hair loss is caused by constant pulling or "traction" of the hair. This most commonly occurs during hairstyling like the following:

- Tight pony tails or buns

- Braids 

- Weaves 

- Clip-in hair extensions 

- Improperly installed hair extensions 

Scarring Alopecia 

This type of hair loss is caused by hair follicle destruction. It’s usually the result of inflammatory or autoimmune disorders. Scarring alopecia can also be caused by skin injuries, burns or certain medical treatments. Scarring alopecia causes permanent hair loss because hair can’t regrow after the follicle is destroyed
